NORTH STAR BLEND: COLLABORATION: REC X SCP 
 
As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we are honored to announce an exciting collaboration that combines the power of two iconic brands with a heartfelt mission. 
 
Since 2021, Sepia Coffee has championed the narrative that specialty coffee is out of reach to low-income communities. Our mission has always been to provide a safe and inclusive space for our communities of color, which disproportionately lack access to quality goods and services. With roots in Highland Park, MI - it has always been our goal to assist in revitalizing this enclave of Detroit with the opening of our hybrid roasting facility - providing not only a safe space for people to gather but more importantly - creating jobs for the residents in and surrounding this city. 
 
The Ruth Ellis Center(REC) was founded in 1999 by members of Detroit’s LGBTQ+ community to respond to the needs of LGBTQ+ youth.  The organization, headquartered in Highland Park, is named after our beloved Ruth Ellis. In the 1940s, Ruth provided shelter, physical support and spiritual affirmation to those whose race, sexual orientation or both set them apart from the cultural and social norms of the time. 
 
Before her passing at the age of 101, the cornerstones for the Ruth Ellis Center had already been laid. With an emphasis on young people of color experiencing homelessness, involved in the child welfare system, and/or experiencing barriers to health and wellbeing, REC works toward a common mission and vision inspired by Ruth. 
 
This Women's History Month, Sepia Coffee will launch a Limited Edition run of our North Star Winter Blend with 25% of sales going to the Ruth Ellis Center.
